Would you like to live in the following smart-town ?
This is a company-owned town in which you can live together with your spouse and children, and benefit from all the included services, as long as you are both employees of the company (or even pensioners of the company).
The daily costs of living (including rent, utilities, food, and services) are substracted from your salaries. (the services provided by the company include hotel-like serviced-housing, restaurant-like food, transport, healthcare, and childcare and education)
(The annual salary per family will probably be computed such that the total annual costs, per family, of all these company-provided services will be around 75-80% of the salary, with the rest at least 20-25% being made available to the employee as cash spendable outside the community: either on tourism, investments, or however they wish)
Inside the town there are no cars allowed, except for the public-transport and the service cars, which are all electric and automated (self-driving). The normal modes of transport inside the town are: walking, cycling, segways, hoverboards, self-balancing-wheel, and maybe electric-scooters for longer distances. There can also be some streets with automated "walking" platforms/bands with differential speeds per lanes.
Each family can live in a 200sqm house (2-floors, 100sqm footprint), with a 150 sqm garden/yard. (Or other types of houses or apartments depending on the salaries of the family)
When you choose to move-in (and every 4-5 years) you can order your furniture online and decorate your house as you wish, using 3d virtual home modelling. All furniture is smart-foldable to make best use of living spaces and be able to easily redecorate.
From time to time, people can choose to move to a different house, of their own choosing.
Each house is zero-energy and self-suficient: solar panels, rainwater-capture, waste2biogas-converter. There is no need for natural-gas pipes, since the heating is electric, combined with good insulation. Each house has robot-cleaners and other included home-services.
Each room has at least one "interactive wall", with screens and audio plus cameras and motion sensors, so any room can be a multimedia/theatre room.
There is no kitchen (and no food storage) in the house, since there are restaurants open 24-hours, with automated cooking (you choose any dish from hundreds of recipes and it is cooked for you in 30-60 minutes, and you can even pre-order it on your smartphone/smartwatch so you don't have to wait.)
Inside the town the following are not allowed: paper, plastic, metal cans. (all books, magazines, brochures and flyers are digital; and all drinks and foods are either consumed on the spot, or kept in reusable bottles/cans)
Every family, and the town as a whole, reuses and recycles almost everything, and produces almost zero waste.
There are no shops inside the town, since there is no need for shopping: all shopping is ordered online and delivered at your home.
There is no grocery store since everyone eats at the restaurant. There is no electronics/appliances/hardware shop since all your home-repair needs are handled by the landlord, or you can order them online. And if you enjoy DIY-work and really want to do it, then you can volunteer at the community workshop.
For clothes shopping you can choose from thousands of models, colors, textures and materials, and they will be robotically manufactured to fit your exact sizes, and they will be automatically delivered to you.
The town is NOT a consumerist society. The residents are people who like and enjoy the concept of "minimalism".
The inhabitants of the town can benefit from a multitude of facilities for "going-out" activities: restaurants/terraces, cinemas, bars/pubs, dance-clubs, sports & games & lots of physical activities, yoga, hiking and nature-going, hobby workshops,... Most of the non-residential part of the town is modeled as a tourist attraction (but without the huge crowds).
There is absolutely no physical paperwork in the town, since every document is digital and online. There is no paper money and people have no need to carry a wallet, since all the identification and payments (including id-card, transport tickets, gym subscription, loyalty cards, and any payment cards or credit cards) are done with the smartwatch and fingerprint+iris.
The industrial part of the town is mostly robotized and ultra-clean and organized.
The offices area is organized more like a university campus, and in such a way to make it a real pleasure to spend your 4 hours per day at the office.
The company provides childcare/daycare/school/afterschool at the workplace, so you don't need to spend time taking the kid(s) to a different place every morning and pick them up in the afternoon. The schooling system is modelled on the Finnish and Montessori models, teaching children to be independent, creative, productive and happy.
Each person (adults and children) benefits of 2 hours per day of organized learning and 2 hours of physical activities, coming to a total of 8 hours spent "at the office". At each family's choice, any part of these 4 hours of learning and sport activities can be done separate from the children or together with the children. (Most probably the families with children below 4 years-old will prefer to spend all 4 hours with the children.)
The rest of the day can be spent doing any of the fun and healthy activities mentioned above in the fun/tourism area of the town.
Each family has 4 months of holiday per year to be able to spend them travelling to other countries or places.
The residential part makes around 1/4th of the town, the offices and industrial makes another 1/4th of the town, and the fun area (including huge parks and lakes and gardens) makes around half of the town.
(The logistics, storage and utility transport is mostly subterranean throughout the town. There is no metro for human transport, all travelling is done at the surface, in silent and clean public transport.)
The town has state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, with highly-advanced robotic medical equipment. The model of paying for healthcare is the following: Every healthy citizen pays a monthly subscription for healthcare (slightly adjusted with the current health condition). Whenever a person gets sick, the doctors must cure the person without pay. Thus, the doctors (including dentists) have the incentive to make sure that the person never gets sick. (As opposed to the current-day model in which doctors get paid for each sick person, and they get paid more when the person is more sick. This is a conflict of interests, since the present-day medical and pharma industry never has the incentive to completely cure an illness, since this will mean removing a revenue-stream.)
The planning, management, tracking and general "running" of the town is highly computerized and automatized (including even AI-driven) in order to allow a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of services, and to prevent abuses of power or siphoning of resources. In order to ensure transparency and persistence, all transactions are included in a public blockchain ledger.
All public services offered by the company are of the highest quality, and every citizen has the power (and responsibility) to point-out any flaws or points-of-improvement.
There are no poor people inside the town, and definitely no homeless people or beggars. All the employees are either social-care workers (including educators and doctors) or knowledge workers, and the majority of the knowledge-worker jobs are not administrative/economic/legal/political, but are in research and development.
The company is owned by its employees.
